Christmas is a magical time of the year. Twinkling lights, decorated trees, holiday aromas, and a building excitement are all part of each holiday season. Here in Asheville, we love the holiday season—especially Christmas traditions at Biltmore.
November 5, 2021 through January 9, 2022
From the moment you step up to the Biltmore and see the lions guarding the front entrance, the lure of Christmas finery beckons. Potted Christmas trees draw the eye to the lush evergreen wreaths that grace the doors and adorn the lions’ necks. And as you walk through the doors, all the senses come alive with the sights, sounds, and aromas of Christmas assailing you.
The Biltmore offers a variety of tours that take you through the largest home in America and its estate. Stunning holiday decorations are seen throughout the home. Some of the most notable rooms include the Banquet Hall, George Vanderbilt’s impressive Library, and the bright Breakfast Room. Choose from expert-guided, self-guided, audio, and a number of other tour options.
Christmas 2021 brings the immersive, multi-sensory exhibit Van Gogh Alive by Grande Experiences. This is an experience you won’t want to miss. Purchase tickets here.
Gardens & Conservatory
If you enjoy a crisp walk outside, a tour of the gardens is in order. Start with the Conservatory filled with blooming poinsettias. Then roam around the vast expanse of gardens and forest. Dress warmly and wear sturdy walking shoes as the pathways may be a little uneven.
Shopping & Winery
Shopping along the quaintly decorated streets of Antler Hill Village is always a delight. Unique gifts and treasures can be found amongst the estate shops. Bookshops to confectioners to a gardener’s paradise and so many more. Your arms are bound to be filled with packages. With Vanderbilt’s love of the land and passion for entertaining, the winery produces reds, whites, and rosés. Visit the Tasting Room for your complimentary wine tasting.

Again, right from the front of this beautiful home stands a majestic Norway spruce adorned with twinkling lights and a pathway lined with luminaries. The entire estate glows with thousands of twinkling lights, candles, and shining ornaments.
Inside, Christmas trees decorated to the nines are found in almost every room. As you stroll through Antler Hill Village, a soft twinkling glow lights your way. While in the gardens, thousands of lights are used to create dazzling displays. An absolute favorite spot is the lighted tunnel leading from Antler Village to the winery. Definitely a photo-op!
“With more than 100 decorated trees, 10,000 ornaments, 100,000 twinkling holiday lights, and an array of festive Christmas displays, you’ll want to linger longer to experience all that Christmas at Biltmore has to offer.”
