Fourth of July Celebration events

Big Fourth of July Celebrations!

The fourth of July celebrations tend to sneak up on me every year. This year I am armed with some of the best local places to commemorate our nation’s independence and I’m here to share them with you!

I have my heart fixed on the Downtown Asheville Celebration. Splashville will be on and bringing smiles to many people’s faces from the hours of 2-6pm. The pavilion will be hosting the Ultimate Air Dogs again this year for some cool and fun music. Beer and wine and food trucks will surround Pack Square as well as lots of family friendly activities. Fireworks are obviously not set off in the middle of downtown but you can still get a great view of them! It’s kind of a well-rounded event with something for everyone.

But if you want more of a getaway with closer views to the spectacular pyrotechnics then I got you covered! Here is a list of nearby events for the Fourth of July this 2017. Here at the Wildberry we’d love to give you fireworks right from the lodge….but I’m sure all of the critters on the mountain that love their home would protest. Oh, and the fire department too!

Tourists Baseball Game- the Tourists put on a huge firework show during the game! So if you are a sports fan I recommend you head on over. This is a big event so please make sure to get your tickets in advance! They sell out quick.

Lake Julian- this free event is called South Asheville Fireworks and it is held off of Lake Julian. Come early to make sure you get a good seat on the lake. Bring your own blanket and chairs if you want lakeside seating though. They also offer picnic tables, grills for cooking out, boat rentals to get a real up close view of the show, volleyball courts and horseshoe pits! Park at Estes Elementary School on Long Shoals Road across from the lake. From Asheville take I-26 East to Exit #37. Turn left at the light onto Long Shoals Road.

Lake Lure- Lake Lure hosts a July 3rd Independence Day Festival with the works! I’m talking funnel cakes and kettle corn and ice cream and souvenirs! The festival is at Morse Park on the lake with fireworks by night fall. The fireworks mirror off of the beautiful lake and light it up with festive colours! Fireworks are also done on the 4th but the festival is saved for the 3rd.
