Ken and Glenda Cahill constructed Wildberry Lodge out of full-length red pine logs, hand peeled, notched and assembled by the handcrafters of Maple Island Log Homes (stained and chinked by the Cahills).
Situated on 45 acres in the Great Smoky Mountains, This mountain lodge sits at 2700 ft. in elevation, and just minutes from downtown Asheville, NC and the Biltmore Estate.
Come visit us and enjoy the spectacular mountain views and sunsets from the sundeck, flagstone patio or screened porch. We really have what you come to the mountains for...
Wildberry Lodge has 5 guest accommodations (4 rooms and 1 luxury suite) in the Main building. The building of the main lodge began in late 1999 and was completed in early 2002. During this time Ken and Glenda worked diligently to complete the staining and chinking (filling between) the logs. The lines of chinking that had to be filled are estimeated at 3 miles in length.
Decorating the Lodge was the fun part of our dream. We have eclectic artifacts from all over the world, along with original local art (paintings, pottery, brooms, fabric, etc) that you can experience - some are also for sale.
The decor is rustic but sophisticated, luxurious, but casual - you can really relax without "roughing it".
The Lodge opened in May of that 2002 with 3 guestrooms. 1 additional room and the Blacjberry suite were added in 2003.
The second building "The Cabin at Wildberry" was completed in 2009 and and houses 2 Suites. The Top floor suite is our Honeymoon Suite and is our most luxurious accommodation - With a spa bathroom that cannot be beat. The decor is in the same spirit as the main lodge. Luxurious, but not formal.
The first floor of the cabin houses our Wineberry Suite which opened in the fall of 2012. This Suite features a private bedroon, living room with fireplace, 42" television with dvd player and direct TV, 2 loveseats that each hide a memory foam twin size bed, and a dining area. The suite also has a full kitchen and large bath with double vanities and tub/shower combo.
April 30, 2014 we have finished our new Jacuzzi hot tub and Tipi relaxation deck. Located at the foot of the fire pit trail this new area will provide much need R&R for weary hikers, urban escapees and everything in between. The hot tub has a great view of the mountains and valley.
